10-Day A Canvas Dream
Mosquito nets and twinkling lanterns, an extraordinary guide and even more extraordinary experiences? This is fly camping, one of the most magical ways to enjoy Tanzania’s parks. Start with a few nights in Tarangire. Then delve straight into the heart of Ruaha and explore terrain where few have set foot before, fly-camping every night in a different location. Next up is the Selous Game Reserve, a vast, unexplored expanse of twisted woodland, winding rivers and rocky gorges.

Day 1 A Night in Arusha
You'll be transferred from the airport to Arusha Coffee Lodge. As the name suggests, coffee is a running theme and the lodge is nestled into the lush emerald bushes of Tanzania’s largest plantation in the foothills of Mt Meru and well-located for flight connections. Radiating warmth and charm, this is an elegant and relaxing stopover choice with a number of activities to keep you busy… and possibly the freshest cup of coffee you will ever taste. When you’ve sampled enough coffee, wander into Arusha town and visit the Maasai market on Faya Road or the Tanzanite museum for some souvenirs of the glittering kind. There’s also a wonderful organisation at the lodge, Shanga Shangaa, which employs local people with disabilities to create beautiful pieces of jewellery, glassware and artwork and is a fun way to spend the morning. Otherwise, soak up the tranquillity of the gardens, tour the plantation and get ready for your safari adventure!

Day 2-4 Explore Tarangire National Park
You'll be transferred to Oliver’s tented camp. Established by the pioneer Paul Oliver in 1992, the camp is perfect for those with an appetite for adventure. Set a little off the beaten track, beside marshland in the secluded Tarangire National Park, Oliver’s offers basic luxury and a great escape from the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater crowds. Oliver’s is renowned for great guiding, walking safaris and fly camping inside the national park. Well go on then - dust off those hiking boots.
Tarangire is best known for its walking safaris - a chance to get up close and personal with larger than life mammals. There’s also the adventurous fly camp option (no wings or plane required), a smaller lightweight tent in the heart of the wilderness, accessible by foot. The park also offers game drives twice daily as well as nocturnal excursions that reveal all the secrets of the dark. If you really do want to take to the skies, a hot air balloon safari can be prearranged.

Day 5-7 Walk with animals big and small in Tanzania's remote Ruaha
Experience wildlife of all sizes from Kichaka Bush Camp. This three-year-old venture was established in a remote section of Tanzania’s Ruaha Park by safari leader Andrew ‘Moli’ Molinaro and his partner Noelle Herzog. It's a camp for serious nature lovers – although the tents are spacious and comfortable and the dining is freshly fabulous, this is not the place to visit if you're looking for cocktails and spa treatments. You'll be creating a personal wildlife experience you'll simply never forget.
Much of the area is still unmapped, so every walk is an adventure – bring your most comfortable walking shoes and lots of sunblock. Moli is a charismatic teacher, and you're guaranteed to leave knowing more about the plants, critters big and small, the workings of the landscape and its history than you thought possible. After dinner, exchange experiences around the evening fire, or gaze at the stars through the computerised telescope. Game drives are offered in the wet season.
