8-Day Untamed Tanzania
Go back in time to the continent’s wild and secret places—Ruaha and Selous—raw and stark slices of nature that are home to all manner of creatures and ready to be explored on foot, by boat or by vehicle. Start off in the Selous and explore the spidery waterways of the largest park on the continent by boat before sleeping out under the stars like the explorers of old. Take a walking safari and immerse yourself in the sheer beauty of Ruaha whilst learning about the tiny creatures of the bush.

Day 1 A night in Dar es Salaam
You'll be driven from the airport to the Southern Sun Dar es Salaam Hotel. The minute you enter the reception area, you'll be aware of the change in atmosphere. Here, where old-world charm, gorgeous surroundings, wide smiles and a warm welcome combine with modern amenities and services, you'll be made to feel right at home. Venture out to see the city's major landmarks and attractions such as the botanical gardens, all of which are conveniently close by, or organise a trip into the game-rich interior safe in the knowledge that there's a peaceful place to rest your head when you return. Explore the sights, sounds and aromas of this historical port then, after dinner, take a stroll down to the beachfront. Love a safari? Arrange an expedition to any of the country's game-rich wildlife reserves with the on-site tour operator.

Day 2-4 A rustic riverside retreat in one of the world's largest game reserves
You can’t talk about Selous Game Reserve without mentioning the Rufiji River, the pulsing lifeblood of the area that virtually dissects the park in two and attracts a mesmerising array of animals. The camp's position on the banks of the waterway is unbeatable and, in our opinion, the best in the park. Its 8 tents tucked within a shady grove of trees are raised on stilts, allowing you a bird's-eye view of the hippo below and the game on the opposite bank. The camp is flanked by two lakes, Mzizimia and Siwandu, which also offer great game and bird sightings throughout the year.
However you like your game viewing, you can probably do it at Impala. Choose from magnificent trips down the river or on the nearby lakes and lagoons in the shade-top boats, walking safaris with experienced guides, 4WD game drives twice a day and even fly-camping for the truly adventurous. Finishing touches include hearty picnic breakfasts in the bush or sundowners from the boat as the sun sets across the water.

Day 5-7 A perfect cocktail of remote wildness and luxury in Ruaha
You will be transferred to Kwihala Camp. This small and personal tented camp in the Ruaha National Park operates from June to March. It has all the bells and whistles available at a mobile camp. Secluded in a bushwillow thicket, just to the North of the Mwagusi Sand River, it is the perfect vantage point from which to explore the area. The camp’s location is said to be one of the best in Ruaha, being close to the water yet far enough away from other camps to create a sense of privacy. Intimate safari does not get much better than this.
This land locked camp’s experiences are based on the raw untouched bush that surrounds it. You’re spoilt for choice and quality here. Choose from day or night game drives, wonderful birding and, to top it off, some of the best and most secluded bush walks Tanzania has to offer. Nocturnal game drives reveal unusual creatures and excitement as antelope come out to feed in the cool of the night and predators take advantage of the dark to hunt.
