14-Day Serengeti to the Swahili Coast
Add a few ticks to your spot list in Tarangire, a quiet park with a strikingly beautiful landscape and an extraordinary population of wildlife that’s just waiting to be discovered. Then stop off in the Serengeti, where endless skies meet seemingly endless plains and there’s a different creature (and seductive sundowner spot) at every turn. Fly and flop on the crisp white sands of Zanzibar Island for some serious rest and relaxation island-style to finish.

Day 1 A night in Arusha
You'll be transferred from the airport to Arusha Coffee Lodge. As the name suggests, coffee is a running theme and the lodge is nestled into the lush emerald bushes of Tanzania’s largest plantation in the foothills of Mt Meru and well-located for flight connections. Radiating warmth and charm, this is an elegant and relaxing stopover choice with a number of activities to keep you busy… and possibly the freshest cup of coffee you will ever taste. When you’ve sampled enough coffee, wander into Arusha town and visit the Maasai market on Faya Road or the Tanzanite museum for some souvenirs of the glittering kind. There’s also a wonderful organisation at the lodge, Shanga Shangaa, which employs local people with disabilities to create beautiful pieces of jewellery, glassware and artwork and is a fun way to spend the morning. Otherwise, soak up the tranquillity of the gardens, tour the plantation and get ready for your safari adventure!

Day 2-3 Explore Tarangire National Park
You'll be transferred to Oliver’s tented camp. Established by the pioneer Paul Oliver in 1992, the camp is perfect for those with an appetite for adventure. Set a little off the beaten track, beside marshland in the secluded Tarangire National Park, Oliver’s offers basic luxury and a great escape from the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater crowds. Oliver’s is renowned for great guiding, walking safaris and fly camping inside the national park. Well go on then - dust off those hiking boots.
Tarangire is best known for its walking safaris - a chance to get up close and personal with larger than life mammals. There’s also the adventurous fly camp option (no wings or plane required), a smaller lightweight tent in the heart of the wilderness, accessible by foot. The park also offers game drives twice daily as well as nocturnal excursions that reveal all the secrets of the dark. If you really do want to take to the skies, a hot air balloon safari can be prearranged.

The suites are generously spaced, offering privacy and spectacular sweeping views of the Crater floor and Serengeti beyond.
Game drives are the key to safari success in the Ngorongoro Crater allowing you to spend a full day reveling in the extraordinary wildlife found in the region. Day 6-7 Witness the Great Migration in the Serengeti
Leaving behind the herds of inquisitive travellers during the Great Migration is no small feat. And that is where Namiri Plains comes into its own. Open from June to April, this gem of a private camp sits in a secluded section of the Eastern Serengeti. It’s the perfect spot from which to watch the Great Migration and all the action that follows it, without compromising on privacy and authenticity. A one-hour-and-fifteen-minute drive from Seronera airstrip means you get to enjoy a game drive before you even arrive at camp.
Namiri Plains offers game drives and, more recently, guided walking safaris, which are used to good effect, showcasing the big cats and the great migration which move through the area. The Namiri guides are extremely knowledgeable, so try to soak up as much insider information as you can. In short, you’re in for some of the best game viewing in one of the best national parks on the planet.

You will be driven to Sayari Camp. Set close to the mighty Mara River in the northern Serengeti, it is prime locations for access to the exclusive Lamai wedge and front row position to the migration. Built on raised wooden platforms on top of a hill with with rolling panoramic views, you’d be hard pressed to picture a more idyllic place from which to enjoy Africa or the Great Migration. Plus, peak migration season aside, it’s still a winner for year round wildlife.
Sayari Camp offers the opportunity to experience the wilderness in a number of ways. Game drives lead by friendly, experienced guides will fill you in on the little secrets of the bush, while guided walking safaris (a rare occurrence in the Serengeti) allow you to see the subtleties often missed from a vehicle.
